Mansion House Hotel- Elgin

My sister and I fell in love with the Mansion House Hotel before we had even booked. Who wouldn't? It's literally a luxury mansion which was built in 1882, so must have a long history behind it. The hotel itself is absolutely stunning and its surroundings are beautiful. What more could you ask for?

This is the Hotel in front view.

We went on Thursday 5th January 2017, arriving 15 minutes before check in time, the lady told us we could check in now if we liked. She was very kind, she explained everything we needed to know about the spa facilities, coming for dinner, coming for breakfast, coming for a drink if we wanted to at any point during our stay and answered any small questions we had. She directed us to our room, handed us the key and told us to have a lovely stay and to come down to reception if we needed anything at all. We immediately felt very welcomed. Aside from the fact that we had just walked into a luxury 4* hotel (which I would probably rate 5* honestly) we were welcomed with a smiling face and a very pleasant attitude.

We went up to our room- Room 9. We opened the door, put the card in the electricity control and when the lights came on we were shocked. Not only did it smell amazing (very clean) it looked fantastic. I honestly have no idea how to describe it, except for wow. The bed was the comfiest bed I've ever slept in, my sister agrees. The pillows and duvet were made out of feathers and the mattress was just so soft. There was also a basket full of coffee, tea, sugar and also some biscuits. There were glass bottles of sparkling water, 2 mugs on tea plates, 2 wine glasses and a kettle. There was a hairdryer, an iron and an ironing board in the wardrobe. We were also very excited when we opened the wardrobe to 2 white spa robes like in the movies.

We went across to the massive Tesco to grab some food as we were hungry after travelling and then walked up to the river which is right beside the hotel. There were little benches up there which we sat in until we had finished and then we stood up to admire the beautiful, calm river. It was very calm, as was the hotel, everything was very peaceful.
 It is so beautiful.

After lunch we decided to try out the spa facilities. We went down and the lifeguard was very pleasant. He gave us towels and directed us to the changing rooms. We tried out everything, the sauna, the steam room, the hot tub and the pool. We felt very relaxed.

We had dinner in the hotel restaurant that night and it was amazing. We ate off the Bistro Menu as the other menu had more fancy foods and I am a fussy eater, but the Bistro Menu was great value and the food was fab! We were only going to have 2 courses but because we enjoyed it so much we just had to see what the puddings were like- they were also amazing! The waiters were also very nice. They all had a smile on their face which is all you can ask of somebody. There was a lot of people eating in the hotel which had instantly been a good sign.

After dinner we just went to the room and chilled which was made very easy by the comfort of the bed and the peacefulness of the hotel.

The next day we got up for breakfast, again busy- good sign. It was amazing. We then went up to our room, chilled and then went to the spa. It was right after a Princess Party Package was in, so we has the whole Spa to ourselves. We spent hours there, going between the sauna, steam room, hot tub and pool and chatting to the lifeguard who had been in the day before too. We went for a walk around Elgin a while later and got a pizza to take back to the hotel for dinner. We bought it from Pino's Pizza which I would recommend as we thoroughly enjoyed it.

Check out day- Saturday 7th January 2017. The same lady who checked us in, checked us out. She was again very nice and she let us leave our bags there until we had to get a taxi to the train station. Our train was at 4pm. We walked around Elgin and did some shopping. When the time came to go, we went back to the hotel, got our bags and the lady phoned us a taxi. I wish we could have gotten her, and the lifeguards names as they were 2 members of staff who really stood out to us and they deserve appreciation!

There are certain places you grow an attachment to and this was one of them. We had a lovely trip and we both agree we will definitely be back.

xoxo Rebecca
